SATURDAY SATURATION: PROMISE

Promise
Hebrews 6:13-15 NKJV

For when God made a promise to Abraham, because He could swear by no one greater, He swore by Himself, saying, Surely blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply you; and so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise.

When you consider the relationships that you have with the people who are closest to you, do you also associate that closeness with promises that you have given to each other? Oftentimes, we feel closer to people who have expressed a level of personal commitment to us in the form of promises made. Regardless of the type of relationship, friendship, career etc. the reason that we feel closer to them than we do to those with whom we have not made promises to is largely due to the bond that forms within the soul when we make promises. This is why it becomes crucial to know the character and motives of the people with whom we form such bonds, or soul-ties.

Promises are designed to affirm obligation to a person or cause, and to give a sense of security that you are in it see a mutual desire fulfilled. God made such a powerful promise to Abraham, that he swore by himself, and upon his own personal honor that he would bless him exceedingly! Imagine how close to God Abraham felt. No doubt, he believed that he could do anything because of the one who gave him the promise. In the same way, God wants you to know that he is a promise keeper! If you are waiting for manifestation of a promise given, don't lose heart while you wait. God will make it worth the wait; you can trust his character and his motives.
